The Montague has waited a long time to get an original work by Kayla Mahaffey. Since as early as 2018 we have tried to purchase her work from her gallery shows with no luck. Earlier this year the artist’s collector list opened, we contacted her studio as directed with the size, subject, and the style of the work we preferred. Blue Cube gallery kindly sent us images of her available works for her upcoming 2024 show: Harmony as they were being offered to collectors. Seven years of waiting finally paid off as the fourth painting offered was the one for us. The acquisition documents below for this work look deceptively uncomplicated as what you are not seeing is the years of failed efforts. This is why collectors should keep following artist on social media even after you might think an artist work is impossible to buy and you have given up. This is also why we keep artist that are out of our current price range on our list, because you just never know what may come up when you keep looking.
