How to Hang work?

We have continually used the same picture layout style for the past 12 years for our small work gallery wall. One of us designed this to balance and accommodate a wide-range of art sizes, styles, and types. We prefer to vary the color of the frame (paint them if need be) and alternate the sizes in the layout but only to the right and left size of the central motif. We can’t stand asymmetry, so our hanging plans must be balanced on both sides of a Central line. We have commissioned work in uncommon shapes to create visual interest in our layout. We think that ovals, cathedral frames and circles break up the monotony of squares and rectangles. We like small art work… (its important to note the small art appreciates much less than larger size work) but we like the freedom art sized: 5x5, 8x10, 10x12 and 12 x12 can give you. Smaller work is usually less expensive, takes up less space and has such is are lower stakes art purchase. This makes it easer for us to be a little more impulsive in our art purchasing

Picture rail- refers to a thin piece of horizontal molding that usually sits about 12 to 20 inches below the ceiling in a room.
